The presentation explains social enterprise and explores examples of successful models. Participants will acquire an understanding of the many types of social enterprise and the constraints and the challenges that are keys to deciding if social enterprise is right for you. She develops programs which provide training\, mentoring and "pitching" opportunities for entrepreneurs that are launching nonprofit and for profit social enterprises ventures that directly address a social problem. She is also an Adjunct Professor in the Social Entrepreneurship & Change graduate program at Pepperdine University.\n\n\n\nPreviously\, Betsy co-founded and managed three hospitality businesses\,an insurance agency\,  and two nonprofit organizations. She is an experienced coach\, having worked for six years as a program leader at a global training & development organization. Her career also includes serving as the Executive Director of a community foundation for ten years\, being a manager of consumer and community issues for a Fortune 500 retailer and running an energy services enterprise in Chicago. LOCATION:Desert/Mountain Educational Service Center 17800 Highway 18 Apple Valley\, CA Directions to Venue: (DO NOT USE GPS) Please note that MapQuest does not give the correct directions to this site ... Interstate 15\, Exit "D Street/Highway 18 East" and travel East. Travel two miles through Victorville and up/down a short hill into Apple Valley. The first traffic light in Apple Valley will be Apple Valley Road. The facility is at the Northwest (left) side of the intersection of Apple Valley Road and Hwy. 18\, behind the gas station\, in the center of the strip mall. Parking is in the lot in front of the building. Please do not park in short-term spots or you will be towed. There are two Highway 18 exits. Make sure you take the one that says "D Street." If you require special accommodations\, such as sign language interpretation\, please note that two (2) weeks notice is required to fulfill your request.
